According to a report by Gestion, the current net attendance rate for primary education in Peru is 92.8%, which places the country at position 89 out of 190 countries in the world

1. In secondary education, Peru has a gross enrollment rate of 95.6%, which places it at position 62 out of 190 countries1. The gross enrollment rate for tertiary or higher education is 40.5%, which places Peru at position 67 globally1. In rural areas, the average years of schooling for males is 7.2 years, while for females it is 6.0 years2.

At the secondary level, the country fell behind other countries in Latin America4.

According to a report by El Comercio, Peru is one of the six countries with the least budget for education in the region, with only 3.9% of GDP allocated to education
